Covering Grenfell - Lunchtime Seminar

Ahead of the second anniversary of the Grenfell fire, we are running a lunchtime seminar for journalists in London. Together with Clinical Psychologist Sarah Heke and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Katherine Burkinshaw from the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Centre, we'll look to answer questions about what traumatic stress is, and what we as journalists need to think about when interviewing people who continue to be impacted by the events of June 14, 2017.

We want to create a space where we as journalists can compare notes on what it takes to report on an assignment that many have found to be emotionally challenging. We will be talking about self-care and what it takes to stay mentally fit when working on a story at this level, that still has a long way to go. The Dart Centre aims to produce a tip sheet that will be useful for others reporting on this and similar tragedies from the seminar. A resource that should be available to share with colleagues and newsrooms.

The seminar is now fully booked. If you are interested in this topic you can contact our Program Manager Jeanny Gering at [email protected]
