About the Authors

Self-Study Unit 2: Covering Terrorism

Chris BullChris Bull, Washington correspondent for The Advocate, is co-author of Perfect Enemies: The Battle between the Religious Right and the Gay Rights Movement and The Accidental Activist. He is co-editor of At Ground Zero: 25 Stories from Young Reporters Who Were There. As a Senior Fellow at the Dart Center on Journalism and Trauma, he is producer of the Web interview series, Before Our Eyes. A recipient of an Alicia Patterson Journalism Foundation Fellowship for 2000, Bull is a contributor to the Washington Post. He is the recipient of NLGJA Honors for a series of articles including "Suicidal Tendencies" and a finalist for the Livingston Award.

Elana NewmanElana Newman, Ph.D., is associate professor of psychology at the University of Tulsa and was director of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma: Ground Zero office in New York City in 2002. She is a leading researcher on traumatic stress.
