This year's German Forum Media and Development Symposium (FOME) on "Rethinking safety: Protecting media freedom in times of crisis" is organized by DW Akademie and Reporters Without Borders Germany (RSF) in Bonn on October 5-6. This year's Symposium will look at how to develop a safe environment and secure structures, and how to deal with tension between acute crisis management and sustainable development cooperation. The event will probe the question of what media development organizations consider when providing emergency aid? Which problems might be overseen when acute crises emerge? How can we keep security in mind when it comes to digital, mental, financial and legal aspects? And how can we communicate this to donors and policymakers?

Join Dart Center Europe's trainer Friederike Engst for a workshop on "How to mainstream mental safety/ resilience components in media development programs."

Friederike Engst is a psychological psychotherapist, behavior and communication trainer and has been working at the Klinik am Waldschlößchen in Dresden since 2015, specializing in trauma therapy. Since 2005 she has been giving workshops for very different target groups such as journalists, students or language mediators. In cooperation with the Dart Center Europe, she specialized in the field of "Trauma and Journalism" and also supports journalists with a low-threshold crisis intervention and counseling service.
